This is a 200 hour, 6 month teacher training that will run over 6 weekends with a one week intensive to finish the program. The training begins the weekend of February 26 and will conclude the week of August 30-September 5, 2010.

Rameen is dedicated to inspiring students of yoga to gain enough systematic knowledge of yoga techniques that will enable you to tap into the origin of yoga, the teacher within & the creative freedom to inspire others. This Training is a self exploration and development program. Come experience the depths of yourself and discover the potential that exists within you.

This course is open to yoga teachers, aspiring teachers & students who wish to deepen their practice and understanding of Yoga.

Taught by Rameen Peyrow with special guest teacher Geha Gonthier


FACULTY:
Rameen Peyrow began his practice of yoga at a very young age with Meditation. His practice of meditation eventually led to Hatha yoga and then to Ashtanga Yoga. In 2002 he was authorized to teach by Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. Rameen has a holistic approach to teaching yoga with a strong focus on meditation & yoga philosophy.

The Sattva practice evolved from years of meditation, studies in India and personal practice. Sattva is a state of being, an inspiration & is the state of balanaced mind, so the individual can experience the authentic self. With his commitment and love for meditation & yoga he is dedicated to teaching people how to connect to the authentic experience of the self and the process of realizing their full potential.

Rameen offers a comprehensive teacher intensive program that will prepare teachers & aspiring teachers to introduce & teach yoga safely and effectively.

Geha Gonthier will be teaching the anatomy portion of this workshop. Geha has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga since 1993. As a yoga instructor and health practitioner she offers a grounded understanding of the human body in regards to physical as well as spiritual anatomy, physiology, movement analogy, and breath awareness. She is committed to passing on her in-depth knowledge to train aspiring teachers to provide a gentle, strong, meditative and safe space for their future students. and practices wholistic medicine.

INVESTMENT:
$2,800 + gst before January 15, 2010
$3,100 +gst after deadline (January 15)
* there will be an additional fee of $200 for the Anatomy portion of the workshop.

CURRICULUM:
1. TECHNIQUES & PRACTICE: (100 hours)
-Including daily asana practice, pranayama & meditation practice
-Breath is the key. Introducing Pranayama techniques
-Putting together posture sequences
-Sanskrit names of the postures will be introduced-principles of alignment and adjustments will be taught

2. TEACHING METHODOLOGY: (28 hours)
-includes principles of demonstration, observation, assisting & correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher - business aspects of yoga
-finding your voice
-moving through postures safely & preventing injuries

3. ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY: (21 hours)
-Anatomy and physiology: includes both physical and energetic anatomy (chakras, koshas, nadis, bandhas)
- for the physical anatomy portion of the workshop, we will have expert in Anatomy, Geha Gonthier teaching.

4. YOGA PHILOSPHY, LIFESTYLE & ETHICS: (36 hours)
-The 8 limbs of Ashtanga Yoga
-Yoga Sutras of Patanjali & The Hathayogapradipika
-Devotion & Karma yoga
-Heart of Yoga
-Sattvic diet & lifestyle
-living yoga

5. PRACTICUM: (15 hours)
-Class observation, practice teaching & assisting
-Hands on adjustments
-oral presentation skills
